Bhabi Jaan

This here is my "sister-in-law" but she really isnt. She is my moms-sisters-sons-wife, or, my first cousins wifey, Subuhi. I have a wide-assortment of nicknames for her, and they are really awesome. I have been friends with her for a really long time, almost as long as she has been married. I first met her in Chicago around the time they got married, and somehow we just got along really well. She moved down to Texas and lived in Irving for a few years. Moiz and I used to hang out over there for a long time. She and Firasat Bhai (her husband) really took care of Moiz and I. They did pretty much everything for us: from taking us out to movies, buying us stuff, giving us money, letting us use their DSL (which was a big deal back then), taking us to the grocery store and even letting us use their dryer. (note: in desi families, letting someone use your dryer is rare, because we are cheap and dont like to let people 'waste' electricity) I used to talk to her about pretty much everything, and for a really long time she was my very best friend. She then moved away and I hadnt seen her for a really, really long time, and unfortunately with that went some of the strenght our friendship. I talked to her maybe once or twice a year for a few minutes, which really sucked. But fear not! Recently I went to Chicago for a wedding - which I might post about later - and I got to see her again and it was really grand. She has four kids now, and when I knew her she had like 2.1 (a newborn). Anyways, the point is that after I got to see her in chicago, they all came down again for me and moiz's graduation party, that was real sweet of them! Hopefully our friendship wont get lost for years again. This time I have a car, a job, and monies...so now I can do something about it.

Detroit

After we went to the wedding and such in Chicago, we went and visited our second cousins in Detroit. The last time that I saw these kids was about 11 years ago. This meeting was a long time a'coming. When we first met them, I think it was alot more awkward for them than it was for us. Somehow, Moiz and I remembered everything about them, but they could barely even remember us. We started out with bonfire, and Moiz had the boys to ask if the marshmellow's were halal (come on poochi, whats the big deal in asking that) Luckily, they thought it was hilarious. This here is Zubair, aka, Zubilly Zoo. He is an original gangster. We got along really well, we all have the same sense of humour and such, its was so much fun. I know that it sounds lame, but the week we spent in Detroit was one of the most enjoyable times in my life, ever. I know, it sounds bad, but it was so much fun man. Stress free, and full of: Mario Tennis, Ping Pong, Poker, Real life tennis, and lots, and lots, and lots of baklawa...

This here is Sadia (aka Thadia). I also came up with another nickname for her, "money bags". Every game of poker we played, she would say "ok, I call...but I know im not going to win anywayth!" or "Oh man...fine, Ill go all in" and "Gosh, I dont think Ive folded a single hand. 25!" She was so kind and generous to us all, and she consistently gave us her poker chips! What a nice person. She and her sister are sick (absolutely sick) at ping pong, which I will explain later. Here, she was really upthet at her thithter because she was beating her in that crazy speed game. More to come...hold on...

Graduation Party

I dont think I will ever update unless I start backwards. So here I am, starting backward. Moiz and I had a graduation party a few days ago, it was pretty crunk. We went to Kababish. The food was a 4.7 our of 10, I would say, but hey my mom wanted to do it there, and no means no. This is my little nephew Zahid, he is freaking cool. He has the funniest giggle in the world, and is a really big punk, especially for how small he is. I didnt get much money and I didnt get very many presents, but I wasnt expecting any so it doesnt really matter. Moiz got $200 more than I did, because my aunts and uncles like him, and I guess they dont like me, haha. I had a really nice time with everyone, even the wonderful Roberto came. It was nice to see him getting along with everyone in my family. Abeer and Saima looked so beautiful! Most everyone showed up, other than my one uncle, which was not very surprising. When I was getting the food, I was on the opposite side of the labels that told you what you were eating. I brought my plate back, and took a nice bite out of something and it bit right back. Ahh, a nice plate of chicken hearts and throats. Incredible.

Roberto got into a really nice arm wrestle with naveed. One time when he came over to my house, roberto held naveed in a choke hold for a matter of minutes. He tried as hard as he could to remove himself from roberts death grip, but resistance is futile against robert. Naveed started to drool. Robert finally let him go. It was pathetic. Needless to say, Robert won this battle of Titans. I think he almost broke naveed arm, and remembing the story of "the ringer" robert let him go because he didnt have insurance to pay for minorities like naveed.

Yeah thats me and Mustafa, my brother. He looks like a conquistador. I hope I spelled that right. We all wore matching outfits. Personally, I thought it was really nice, but he had some reservations against it. I dont know why Nunu, my other cousin, has his hand up in the air. I believe he is asking me to marry him. The answer is yes. Well...ok, yes.

This is a grand picture of us cousins. The two on the left are brothers, im #3, and the one to my right is nunu. They are all swell guys, we always have a nice time with one another. That is, until the parents screw it up for us. Im telling you, im going to get married in Europe. I know the aunts and uncles only motivation to come to my potential wedding in the first place is so that they can stuff their faces...creating a financial and physical barrier would solve many problems, dont you think?

Man, I forgot how much fun it was to post again. This was very exciting.
